Bac Ninh WU targeting at membership increase from 3% to 5% in 2007

On 11 January 2007, Bac Ninh Women’s Union reviewed Union’s activities and women’s movement in 2006.

 In 2006, Bac Ninh Women’s Union speeded up activities o­n communications and education to raise awareness of all sides for the Union’s staff and members; focused o­n providing guidance to organize successfully women’s congress at provincial, district and communal levels. The Women’s Union at all levels have conducted many practical and effective activities including supporting to members in household economic development, building families of “prosperity, equality, progress and happiness”. In 2006, all level Union provided 286.204 million VND as loans to 48.775 Union’s staff and membersincluding 6.506 poor female-headed households increasing 87.000 million VND against 2005; built and repaired 10 dilapidated houses for poor members with 93.5 million Dong, ect. A number of models have been replicated such as women enterprise clubs, elderly women clubs with community based health care activities, cultural exchange... attracting more and more members taking part in the Union’s activities. This year, the Union admitted 7.490 new members raising the provincial women’s union membership up to 180.851 people.

 

In 2007, the main tasks of the Provincial Women’s Union are strengthening and improving the quality of communications and education, building women’s capacity; mobilizing and supporting women in economic development, promoting women’s active role in building families of “prosperity, equality, progress and happiness”; developing the Union’s organization, effectively advocating for women staff’s work, successfully presenting and protecting legal and legitimate rights and benefits of women, strengthening international cooperation relations for equality, development and peace, especially targeting at membership increase from 3 to 5%; in addition, 100% women-headed households are to be helped to eradicate poverty, ect.
