Awarding the honour medals “For the development of Vietnamese Women” to 3 German experts

In July 4th 2009, the VWU Presidium awarded the honour medal “For the development of Vietnamese women” – a noble prize of VWU to 3 German experts: Mr. Niclaus Bergman, Acting manager of Saving Banks Foundation for International Cooperation (SBFIC)/Sparkasee Essen Bank, Mr. Klaus Remmer, Manager of Sparkasee Essen’s Service Center, coordinator of the TYM project; & Mr. Joerg Teumer, TYM project’s consultants team leader, to recognize their contributions to promote and strengthen the cooperation and assistance towards the VWU in general and TYM Fund in particular in supporting poor women through credit & saving activities.

The tripartie cooperation agreement have been signed from January 2005 between WWU, CARD (the Philippines) and Sparkasee Essen (Germany). According to the agreement, the TYM fund gettechnical support from CARD and financial support from SBFIC/Sparkasee Essen to create fund resource, develop products, organize training activities for capacity building of staff, purchase equipment, set up information management system. The total amount provided by SBFIC/Sparkasee Essen is 768,000 Euros.

Mr. Niclaus Bergman, Acting manager of SBFIC – who is responsible for the whole activities of the project, provided direct assistance for TYM to select and apply IT solutions. He also mobilized fund from the Government for the project.

Mr. Klaus Remmer, Manager of Sparkasee Essen’s Service Center, project coordinator: He is the very first person who had studied VWU’s activities, specifically in supporting poor women that laid foundation for the cooperation of the 3 parties and played an important role in capacity building for TYM’s staff. Mr. Joerg Teumer, project’s team leader is responsible for project management, providing technical assistance for trainings and consultancy for TYM in working out business strategy and plan. Particularly, he have been supporting TYM in integration into international micro finance community in order to mobilize fundfor expansion of activities.

Three experts tried their best in supporting TYM in the transition process to micro finance institution (MFI) according to the Decrees No 28 and 165 of the Government.

On behalf of the VWU Presidium, First Vice President Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy conferred the VWU’smedals to the 3 experts.

Mr. Niclaus Bergman expressed gratitude o­n behalf of the 3 experts to Central WU for giving them the medals as well as for the effective assistance of VWU and TYM towards the activities of Sparkasee Essen. He also expressed happiness for the fruitful cooperation of the 3 parties and affirmed that the achieved results will be an encouragement and premise for greater achievements in the future.
