A/O victims further campaign in Washington

23/12/2005
Vice President of the Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims Nguyen Trong Nhan and two victims met with US social activists in Washington DC, and Virginia state on November 26.

Prof. Nhan called for further support from the progressive, peace and justice loving and kindhearted American public to bring justice to Vietnamese A/O victims in their current lawsuit against US chemical companies.

Two victims, Dang Hong Nhut and Nguyen Si Hai, told the US audience about their sufferings caused by Agent Orange and dioxin, sprayed by US troops during the war.

The consequences of toxic chemicals affect not only the environment but also human beings of future generations, for both the Vietnamese people and US war veterans, said the two victims.

The stories told by the two victims, combined with images of A/O child victims in Vietnam, aroused sympathies from US social activists. They raised questions about the number of people affected by toxic chemicals in Vietnam and support from the Government and charitable organisations both inside and outside the country in order to raise support for the victims.

Many of them donated cash and pledged to campaign for Vietnamese A/O victims in their lawsuit which is awaiting for trial in New York.

The victims continued their campaign in Washington, DC, the North Carolina state and other major cities in the US.
